About This Place

Nestled along the scenic coastline of Foz do Arelho, Cafetaria Doce Mar offers much more than your average café experience. Situated at R. Visc. Morais 9, this charming spot invites visitors to indulge in a truly relaxing atmosphere where the gentle ocean breeze and panoramic sea views perfectly complement each visit. From the moment you step inside, the warm, friendly vibe and helpful staff make it clear that customer comfort is a priority here.

The café’s menu presents a delightful range of treats that cater both to those seeking a quick snack and others yearning for a leisurely light meal. Signature items like the buttery Croissant and the uniquely fluffy Bola Berlim (Berlin Ball) showcase the bakery’s commitment to quality and tradition. For something refreshingly sweet, the Crepe Com Bola de Gelado delivers an irresistible combination of warm crepe and cold ice cream, a sensory delight that lingers on the palate.

One cannot talk about Cafetaria Doce Mar without mentioning the iconic Pastel de Nata. Praised by frequent patrons for its flaky, golden crust and velvety custard filling, this classic Portuguese pastry pairs perfectly with a rich, expertly brewed coffee or a cozy Meia de Leite Com Torrada (milk coffee with toast). For those looking for something savory, the Creme Aveludado de Legumes Com Crocante de Cebola combines silky vegetable cream with a tantalizing crunch, illustrating the café’s ability to balance flavor and texture.

What truly elevates the experience, according to visitors like Omid Mostafaei and Ricardo Da Cruz, is the incomparable ocean view. It’s a place where you can savor not only the fare but also the serene backdrop of the beach, watching waves ripple and enjoy the relaxed pace of coastal life. Gerry Byrne’s story about the generosity and helpfulness of both staff and patrons reflects a warm community spirit rarely found in such tourist-friendly locations.

Whether seated inside or taking your treats to go, Cafetaria Doce Mar remains a favorite spot to unwind, chat, or simply watch the world drift gently by, as noted by reviewer C Terence Wittstadt. The combination of top-notch pastries, a comforting menu, genuine hospitality, and stunning surroundings makes this café an unmissable gem in Foz do Arelho.

For a refreshing getaway filled with delicious tastes, heartfelt service, and mesmerizing seaside sights, Cafetaria Doce Mar beckons with open doors and a tempting menu.

Nice place to sit and relax, have a coffee, tea, pastry or light meal. Overlook the beach and ocean and watch the traffic go by. Friendly service and helpful with the language translation. Did both sit down and take out.

Our favorite local place for a morning coffee and/or afternoon beer. The best sunset view over the lagoon and ocean!
